What is Acupuncture?
Understanding Acupuncture:
Acupuncture is defined as a method of preventing and treating disease, illness, injury or pain by allowing the body to heal naturally and improve the way it functions. Its popularity continues to grow and become more accepted into the mainstream as clinical studies regularly prove its efficacy and people are experiencing positive results. This is accomplished through stimulating biologically significant points on the body.
For Pain Relief:
Each visit builds on previous visits, paving the way toward eliminating your initial problem or complaint. It may take several visits before significant relief is achieved. Pain and other symptoms frequently only appear after a disease or other condition has become advanced. Unfortunately, pain is very poor indicator of health.
Corrective Care:
Step 2 of acupuncture is corrective. This form of care is necessary not only to relieve symptoms, but, also, to remove the cause of the problem. For example: A person may have headaches which result from a blockage of Qi. Blockages can cause a reduction in blood supply to the head and the effect is a headache. Corrective care focuses on making certain the blocked Qi is corrected and, therefore, the headaches subside. Even though you may not be experiencing symptoms, this phase maintains and supports the changes you have achieved while providing the foundation for deeper healing.
Maintenance Care:
Sometimes called wellness care, these visits are scheduled at regular intervals, depending on your goals and condition. These sessions preserve all the progress you have made, keeping you healthy, balanced potentially free from illness. Wellness care visits restore the body’s natural defenses and combat the effects of daily stress. Wellness is the root of all healing. Rather that waiting for disharmony to appear on the physical level, you can receive regular treatments aimed at prevention and health maintenance.
